On the second day of my visit we went down to the Nile river to go for a swim. It was really scary to walk out in africa in the middle nowhere. Once we got there I didn't want to go in because I thought we would get attacked by a hippo or a croc but when I saw how much fun he was having I could no longer resist going in so I took off my shirt and ran and jumped off a little mud bank. As soon as I hit the water I new it was a bad idea because it was so cold I couldn't bare it. I got out and dried off in my shirt. He told me I was a little girl and we both laughed and then he told me to get back in the water so I gave it one more chance I ran and jumped in the water it was still cold but I made my self stay in. After playing in the river we went back to his village And had rice and beef for diner then we went to the fire and sang songs and after about one hour of dancing we went to his hut and fell asleep.

I really liked how you and panther swam in the nile river
Good Google map...Nile swim...hippos & crocs..."little girl"...dinner, music, fire & dancing.
Good start, Laird, but I wish you would have stayed longer. What a rare opportunity to visit John's clinic or Panther's school. I also wish you would have added a link...a photo...a video...a sound... to make this more than electronic paper.
You tell your story well. Your words just need one more set of eyes to polish them before they paddle out and go public. Kinda like waxing your board before going in. Would only take an editor (Mom...Dad...friend...) 5 minutes to do that.
